Emanuelle, well, well..

So as I'm browsing I happen to stumble apon a wiki fashion article about Vogue Paris fashion editor-in-chief Emanuelle Alt. Her description is very impressive, but as I'm scrolling down to view her photos I can't help but notice she wears basically the same thing. Could this merely be a solid definition of her signature style or, perhaps, the criminal actions of a style repeat offender?

 Ah well, I can't say much because she is, after all, the freaken editor-in-chief of the best selling fashion magazine in the WORLD (for over 100 years). So obviously she's doing a lot right. And I guess we all have a look that we love to love.

I 'int gon' lie, though. I am loving some of these outfits.

Everything Borrowed

Went to Coldplay last night and it was epic. Everything was on point from the lighting, the visuals, the singing (duh) - and the bloody show even had fireworks! Naledi and I even managed to sneak away from our horrible seats at the back of the stadium, past the most un-serious guards - but very kind, nevertheless - and we managed to get front seating. Although this morning when I thought about my outfit I realised that nothing I wore - apart from my jeggings and my pumps - was actually mine. But, really, is that anything new? :)

 I was too broke to afford anything decent to take home from the concert. So I kept my cup.

And I borrowed this lurvley top from my friend Lebo, the bracelet is Naledi's and the jacket is Wabuya's.

Fabric Tea Party - Never gets old

Well, I dont know about the Northern Hemisphere but here in the Southern Hemisphere we have just been kissed by Spring. Usually around this time of the year - and at the summit of pretty much every season - I think about all the people in the fashion industry scuttling around trying to find the 'next trend' for the season. And even though Spring is not my most favoured season, at the summit of every Spring (well, since I feasted my eyes on such loveliness) what never fails to filter through the hustle and bustle of my scrambled brain are the clothes that spring out of Ituen Basi's collections. And even though most of these looks aren't new, they still communicate the same message that 'makes me dey go gaga' every time. Strong, loud, colourful, upbeat, warm, African.

Here are some of my favourites from her collection:

 

Similar to the style and inspiration of this line is another line by a brand named Boxing Kitten by designer Maya Amina Lake makes use of wax block prints on fabric to make looks that are cheerful and playful.

... Yeah yeah, now I know that 'tribal prints' has already made its debut into the fashion scene, and as we all know fashion has its tendencies of spitting what's in out, but I still feel that in ten years, no one can tell me wax-block prints are "so last season" cause, well... who cares?

Katherine Kidd

Man, I am loving Katherine Kidd's current collection. High fashion never ceases to amaze me, because although some collections may sometimes be considered as banal or lacking in character I beg to differ.

This particualr collection is so beautiful in its simplicity alone. The structured tailoring, the neutral tones and the beautiful element of playfulness introduced by the intimate detail of the fabric, stitching and embellishments. How can I not do anything but simply hold such cleverly coy collection close to my heart and hope acquire an occupation that would allow me to afford clothes from such a desirous line as this?

It just looks so effortlessly chic, serious yet playful and somewhat alluring because of its suggestive aura. Because even though the pallette seems aloof and impersonal, the detail makes it seem mellow and warm. The detail! The detail, the detail... Can we ask for more? I could go on... but instead I'll give the keyboard a break and just daydream.
